How to scrap your car in Greenwich

If you have a scrap car in or around Greenwich it's a simple process to get it scrapped for free.

  1. Give us a ring and arrange a time for us to collect your scrap car and provide as many details as you can about the car.
  2. We pick up the car together with its logbook at the arranged time. If you like you can send us the logbook before hand. (If you do not have the logbook we can still scrap the car but you will need to let us know prior to us towing it away and you will need to inform the DVLA in writing of your intention to have the car scrapped.)
  3. You get section 9 of the logbook back, together with an intent of destruction certificate.
  4. You are advised to send the section 9 to the DVLA at this point.
  5. We make a SORN (inform the DVLA that the vehicle is now off the road) and send the DVLA the rest of the logbook so that the car can be de-registered.
  6. You should be notified by the DVLA within 4 to 6 weeks.

What do we do with your scrap car once we've towed it away?

Once we've towed away your old car for scrap we will remove any parts that can be reused in some way (such as the tyres and the battery). Then we remove the catalytic converter and other parts which can be recycled. We remove an fuel remaining in your scrap car as well as any hazardous parts. Finally, the vehicle is crushed.
